Henry IV (King of England, April 1367 – 20 March 1413). Henry, Henric. hour, honor, honesty, vehicle...., silent h.

Now you see silent "h" everywhere. Baader–Meinhof phenomenon. Frequency illusion, also known as the Baader–Meinhof phenomenon or frequency bias, is a cognitive bias in which, after noticing something for the first time, there is a tendency to notice it more often, leading someone to believe that it has a high frequency (a form of selection bias). It occurs when increased awareness of something creates the illusion that it is appearing more often. Put plainly, the frequency illusion is when "a concept or thing you just found out about suddenly seems to crop up everywhere." -- wiki Charlie Chaplin - Factory Scene - Modern Times (1936)

whitewash (my memory is yet fresh with the term of "white lie" ) Etymology. The first known use of the term is from 1591 in England. Whitewash is a cheap white paint or coating of chalked lime that was used to quickly give a uniform clean appearance to a wide variety of surfaces, such as the interior of a barn. To whitewash is to intentionally hide some kind of wrongdoing, error, or unpleasant situation—or deal with it in a way that attempts to make it seem less bad than it is. ... More recently, the word whitewash has become a slang term meaning to cast a white actor to play a character of color, such as in a TV show or movie.

"To whitewash is to intentionally hide some kind of wrongdoing, error, or unpleasant situation—or deal with it in a way that attempts to make it seem less bad than it is." "More recently, the word whitewash has become a slang term meaning to cast a white actor to play a character of color" ----白人扮黑人 Oppose the right-wing, racialist attack on composer Bright Sheng at University of Michigan: Sheng was “turned in,” according to the Michigan Daily, by one of his freshman students, Olivia Cook, who took note that Olivier was playing Othello in black make-up. “I was stunned,” Cook said. “In such a school that preaches diversity and making sure that they understand the history of POC (people of color) in America, I was shocked that (Sheng) would show something like this in something that’s supposed to be a safe space.” In a statement to the Michigan Daily, composition Professor Evan Chambers—who is replacing Sheng in the course—wrote, “To show the film now, especially without substantial framing, content advisory and a focus on its inherent racism is in itself a racist act, regardless of the professor’s intentions.” Chambers presents absolutely no evidence to support such an outrageous claim.

A rising tide lifts all boats 水漲船高 : The aphorism "a rising tide lifts all boats" is associated with the idea that an improved economy will benefit all participants and that economic policy, particularly government economic policy, should therefore focus on broad economic efforts. The phrase is commonly attributed to John F. Kennedy, who used it in a 1963 speech to combat criticisms that a dam project he was inaugurating was a pork barrel project.

idioms.thefreedictionary.com/wear+the+pants : wear the pants (or wear the pants in the house): 在家說話算數,是老闆/領導。。。。 To be in charge in or control of a relationship or family. The phrase is typically applied to a woman, contrasting the fact that pants were historically only worn by men, who were traditionally the decision makers within a household. Often followed by "in the family" or "in the house." I think it's pretty obvious who wears the pants in that family—Grandma Helene.
