Shenandoah - Peter Hollens
Oh, Shenandoah,
I long to see you,
Away you rolling river.
Oh Shenandoah,
I long to see you,
Away, I’m bound away,
‘cross the wide Missouri.
Oh Shenandoah,
I love your daughter,
Away, you rolling river.
For her I’d cross,
Your roaming waters,
Away, I’m bound away,
‘Cross the wide Missouri.
‘Tis seven years,
since last I’ve seen you,
And hear your rolling river.
‘Tis seven years,
since last I’ve seen you,
Away, we’re bound away,
Across the wide Missouri.
Oh Shenandoah,
I long to see you,
And hear your rolling river.
Oh Shenandoah,
I long to see you,
Away, we’re bound away,
Across the wide Missouri.

I see fire
Oh, misty eye of the mountain below Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke Keep watching over Durin's sons
If this is to end in fire Then we should all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father oh Stand by and we will Watch the flames burn auburn on The mountain side
And if we should die tonight Then we should all die together Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father oh Prepare as we will Watch the flames burn auburn on The mountain side Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire Inside the mountain I see fire Burning the trees And I see fire Hollowing souls I see fire Blood in the breeze And I hope that you remember me
Oh, should my people fall Then surely I'll do the same Confined in mountain halls We got too close to the flame
Calling out father oh Hold fast and we will Watch the flames burn auburn on The mountain side Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire Inside the mountain I see fire Burning the trees I see fire Hollowing souls I see fire Blood in the breeze And I hope that you remember me
And if the night is burning I will cover my eyes For if the dark returns Then my brothers will die And as the sky is falling down It crashed into this lonely town And with that shadow upon the ground I hear my people screaming out
Now I see fire Inside the mountains I see fire Burning the trees I see fire Hollowing souls I see fire Blood in the breeze
I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out) (fire) And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire) And I see fire (uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire) And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side

Red river valley
From this valley they say you are going
We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile
For they say you are taking the sunshine
That has brightened our pathways awhile
Come and sit by my side, if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy who loved you so true
I've been thinking a long time, my darling
Of the sweet words you never would say
Now, alas, must my fond hopes all vanish
For they say you are going away
Do you think of the valley you're leaving
O how lonely and how dreary it will be
And do you think of the kind hearts you're breaking
And the pain you are causing to me
Come and sit by my side, if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy who loved you so true
They will bury me where you have wandered
Near the hills where the daffodils grow
When you're gone from the Red River Valley
For I can't live without you I know
Come and sit by my side, if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy who loved you so true

The Wild Mountain Thyme
O the summer time has come And the trees are sweetly bloomin' And the wild mountain thyme Grows around the bloomin' heather Will ye go lassie go?
Chorus: And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go lassie go?
I will build my love a bower (summerhouse) By yon cool crystal fountain And round it I will pile All the wild flowers o' the mountain Will ye go lassie go?
(chorus)
I will range through the wilds And the deep glen sae dreamy And return wi' their spoils Tae the bower o' my dearie Will ye go lassie go?
(chorus)
If my true love she'll not come Then I'll surely find another To pull wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go lassie go?
(chorus)

忘语君,我是听歌学英文。 :) 有时我想,很多诗/歌词作者是否是按韵脚填词呢?当然兼顾主题。
wiki: "Wild Mountain Thyme" (also known as "Purple Heather" and "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?") is a folk song written by Francis McPeake, a member of a well known musical family in Belfast, Ireland, and is of Scottish origin.

somebody mentioned "time in a bottle" in the comment area, a nice song too.
wiki: "Time in a Bottle" is a hit single by singer-songwriter Jim Croce. Croce wrote the lyrics after his wife Ingrid told him she was pregnant with his son, Adrian, in December 1970. It appeared on his 1972 ABC debut album You Don't Mess Around with Jim. ABC originally did not intend to release the song as a single; but when Croce was killed in a plane crash in September 1973, the song's lyrics, dealing with mortality and the wish to have more time, had additional resonance.

The Skye Boat Song (lyrics) - Outlander (theme song) - feat. Kathryn Jones/Raya Yarbrough
zt:

Wiki:
"Down in the Valley", also known as "Birmingham Jail", is a traditional American folk song.[1] It has been recorded by many artists, and is included in the Songs of Expanding America recordings in the Burl Ives six-album set Historical America in Song.
It is a ballad played in the 3/4 time signature. Lyrics vary, as with most folk songs. For example, sometimes the line "Hang your head over, hear the wind blow" is replaced by "Late in the evening, hear the train blow".[2] In 1927, Darby and Tarlton sang "down in the levee" in place of "down in the valley"; the version sung by Lead Belly in 1934 substitutes "Shreveport jail" for "Birmingham jail".[3]

Doris Day - Que Sera Sera
"Que Sera, Sera"
When I was just a little girl I asked my mother What will I be Will I be pretty Will I be rich Here's what she said to me
Que sera, sera Whatever will be, will be The future's not ours to see Que sera, sera What will be, will be
When I grew up and fell in love I asked my sweetheart What lies ahead Will we have rainbows Day after day Here's what my sweetheart said
Que sera, sera Whatever will be, will be The future's not ours to see Que sera, sera What will be, will be
Now I have Children of my own They ask their mother What will I be Will I be handsome Will I be rich I tell them tenderly
Que sera, sera Whatever will be, will be The future's not ours to see Que sera, sera What will be, will be Que Sera, Sera

Swing Low Sweet Chariot
Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home
Looked over Jordan what do I'd see Coming for to carry me home A band of angels coming after me Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home
I looked up over Jordan and what did I see Coming for to carry me home I saw a band of angels coming after me Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home
I looked over Jordan what do I see Coming for to carry me home A band of angels coming after me Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home
wiki "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" is an American negro spiritual. The earliest known recording was in 1909, by the Fisk Jubilee Singers of Fisk University. The song serves as the anthem of the England national rugby union team.
In 2002, the Library of Congress honored the song as one of 50 recordings chosen that year to be added to the National Recording Registry. It was also included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry Association of America and the National Endowment for the Arts.
