Totally a newcomer to the common law tradition.
Trying to gain some understanding on the background of American founding; also how the diverse traditions of law merged into the body of civil legal practices that gradually transformed the British political construct. The disrespect and stifling of such a tradition in the new world was one of the major grievances the Americans expressed which led to their revolt against the British parliament then the crown.
